Pindaya

Pindaya is known for its extensive network of limestone caves, yet the town itself offers a charming stop as well. Sitting over 1,160 metres above sea level, it was developed around the tranquil Boutaloke Lake, surrounded by curved temple spires and regal Banyan trees. Oxcarts are not an uncommon sight, the pace of life unhurried here. A few hours’ drive from either Inle Lake, Kalaw or Taunggyi, Pindaya is an appealing base from which customised explorations into the Shan Plateau can be made. Short and extended treks can be made to the Taung-Yo, Danu, Pa-O or Palaung villages.
