DAY 1> MANDALAY – PYIN OO LWIN [B/-/-]
We drive to a former colonial hill station, PYIN OO LWIN (MAY MYO) approximately 65km/1,5hrs away from Mandalay. The tranquil beauty of the town captured the minds of the British Administration, who developed it after defeating the last king of Myanmar. Burmese know the town for the flowers, fruits and vegetables that grow so well in its cooler climes. We first visit to PEIK CHIN MYAING CAVE and PWE KAUK WATERFALL located near the town. Then, at the BOTANICAL GARDENS, we feast our eyes on the variety of flora available in the region. To close the day, we enjoy a HORSE CART ride to see the beautiful colonial architecture of houses built during the British rule.

DAY 2> PYIN OO LWIN – GOKTEIK BRIDGE – HSIPAW [B/-/-]
After breakfast, we visit the lively PYIN OO LWIN MORNING MARKET where local farmers come to trade their produce. And then we continue to board a local train and journey 3 hours to NAUNGPEIN Village. Enroute, the train crawls slowly across GOKTEIK BRIDGE, the scenic highlight of the day as the bridge spans a 300m deep gorge. From Naungpein Village, we join our driver again and drive 1.35 hrs further to sleepy HSIPAW TOWN, the heart of one of Myanmar’s oldest Shan kingdoms. Enroute we stop to see bamboo weaving before arriving to Hsipaw late afternoon.

DAY 3> HSIPAW [B/-/-]
After breakfast, charming boat trip up the DOTTAWADDY RIVER and watch the handsome buildings of ‘Hsipaw’ along the river as well as once famous Shan Palace. On the way, observe Shan villages’ daily activities such as fishing, washing, fetching water for household use. After 30 minute drive, a soft tracking tour will bring you through fruit plantation gardens to 150 years old LON YON monastery where you will mingle with young Buddhist novices who are ethnic Shan and Palaung boys learning literature and ethics. After coming back from the monastery visit, the boat trip will bring you to the confluence of the two rivers namely Namtu and Nam-ma to form Dhu Hta Waddy. The trip will now go river downstream back to Hsipaw. In the afternoon, walk for sightseeing around the village and then enjoy the sunset at THEIN TAUNG hill.

DAY 4> HSIPAW – MANDALAY [B/-/-]
After breakfast, drive back to MANDALAY. Upon arrival we proceed to the highlights of Mandalay: the sacred MAHAMUNI PAGODA, housing one of the most significant Buddha images covered in several tons of gold leaf and the crown prize in wars between competing kingdoms; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, the sole surviving Royal Palace building in Mandalay, offering a glimpse of the original style and architecture of the Myanmar royals. We end our day with sunset panoramic views over city skyline on MANDALAY HILL, the highest point of the city.
